Carrot Halwa

Carrot Halwa without khoya

         Carrot halwa is easy and tasty Indian sweet recipe made with carrot,milk & sugar.

Ingredients

  • Carrot - 1cup
  • Milk - 3/4cup or 1cup
  • Cardamom - 2
  • Sugar - 1/4 cup
  • Ghee - 2 tsp
  • Raisins & Nuts - as per your taste

Procedure

         
  1. Peel the skin of carrot and grate finely.Keep aside
  2. Heat ghee in a pan,add raisins and nuts saute for a minute and keep aside
  3. in the same ghee add the grated carrot and saute for 5minutes.
  4. now add milk and give a good stir.
  5. continue to boil, stirring occasionally untill the carrots are cooked well & milk reduces.
  6. once the milk thickens completely add sugar & cardamom
  7. mix well until the halwa thickens and ghee releases from sides.
  8. Switch off the stove,add 1tsp ghee and fried nuts
  9. Transfer to a bowl and serve hot.


                                    



Notes :

       # adjust the amount of sugar-based on the sweetness of the carrot
      # keep stirring in between to prevent from burning
      # carrot halwa is taste great when you add khova
     # If you want to add khova.add @ the final stage once you switch off the flame
